Returns to Stamford, Connecticut. With this, their second show has brought life back to an otherwise generic weekend. Full of the same old acts, they are a refreshing change of pace, especially as we reach the end of the year. Coming to see El Grupo La Apuesta is like giving yourself an early Christmas gift.
El Grupo La Apuesta began in 1993 in Mexico. Started by Enrique and Juan Casaos. Since then they have accomplished so much; performing on numerous memorable stages. Estadio Azteca, Lunario Del Auditorio Nacional, Estadio Azul, and La Megavelaria Aguascalientes. As well as performed on shows such as: El Gordo y La Flaca, HOY, and Sabadazo.
With a massive and loyal following it is not surprising to see that locals from Stamford crowed the entrance. Couples from New York and even a group from Boston. Have all come to see the best of the best. “Tienen exitos que asta hoy sigo disfrutando.” Ricardo a fan stated as he waited in line to enter the club. As the line began to move people began to shine with glee. “Es un regalo poder venir a disfrutar de uno de los grupos que cresi escuchando.” Another replied as we made our way through the doors.
Seeing La Apuesta on a stage such as the Sport Arena of LA, is an experience to be shared with lots of people. But thanks to the size of The Palms Night Club any show that happens becomes an intimate affair. Hearing “Abrázame y Perdóname,” and “Por tí.” Become more than just a song they become powerful ballads of love and loss. In such a venue it is easy for bands to overdo it, by playing to loud or worst yet finding out that all along they were auto-tuned. It is a gift to know that is not the case with La Apuesta, twenty-four years have sharpened their skills making them a band of a high caliber. So next time if you can make it to one of their shows, just know that you are in for a treat.
